“Anyone who falls in love is searching for the missing pieces of themselves.
So anyone who's in love gets sad when they think of their lover.
It's like stepping back inside a room you have fond memories of,
one you haven't seen in a long time.”
― Murakami, Haruki

I’ve never been in a long distance relationship. But I do have friends who had experienced or is currently experiencing it. And one thing that they mostly have difficulty with is that: separation is grueling hard work. Trusting one another and having faith that one’s relationship will make it through are probably the most important components in maintaining a healthy long distance relationship and at the same time, the most difficult, since everything is uncertain.

But more often than not, another element that comes into play in a relationship is their beliefs. And for Maricar and Chester’s relationship to have such a strong foundation in their religion, that a higher being is guiding them in the right path, is a major element. Experience will tell you that there is more to love than just “being in love”. It takes a lot of trust, patience, and mostly faith. And for Maricar and Chester, a strong relationship with God as their foundation for their relationship is key along with the other said elements. Because true love is never easy. And it will hurt. And it will test every person’s mettle. It makes people walk a pathway that they’re not familiar with just to see their significant other happy. But in the end, something deep inside every person going through with it will know that it will be worth it in the end. Because at the end of the day, after going through every setback and difficult moment you will look at each other and breathe a sigh of relief. And smile. And you will realize that your still in love with the same person that you fell in love from the very beginning.

So this are the the stuff of long drawn-out Korean Dramas are made out of. But for some folks, it’s their reality. Even with all the familiarity and cliches that you see in movies - the thought of a happy ending still pierces through. Its what we live for right? Well folks this stuff happens in real life.
