“What good is the warmth of summer,
without the cold of winter to give it sweetness.”
― John Steinbeck
Well I think there might be some truth to what Nikki & Paolo said that for some reason I may just have bad luck when it comes to snow. Crazy right? I mean how hard is it in winter to go somewhere where there's snow and totally miss the experience of having real snow fall. To think that I live in California where I can drive a few hours and be in some winter wonderland. Just in California, we have Mammoth Lakes, Lake Arrowhead, Big Bear Lake and Lake Tahoe. Just to name a few. But in my case, it's harder than some may think. Last year, due to staffing issues at work our requests for a vacation was met with a hearty NO. It would've been perfect too, since last year the rain in California was intense. But by the time we finally got the chance to get away, it was already March and the snow in Big Bear have started melting.
So we decided to go to Lake Tahoe in January of this year. Miiddle of freakin' winter. But, alas, California decided to be an a**hole once again and totally eschew my winter plans. So we were met with a sunny, albeit, cold weekend in Lake Tahoe. But Ive always looked at the glass half-full. And although I didn't get to experience shooting my couple in real falling snow, it was still a memorable get away weekend for us. Especially during the drive home when the kids kept talking about how much fun they had. I mean in the end, all that really matters is that the family had another memorable time that we can look back to.
