“There is never a time or place for true love. It happens accidentally, in a heartbeat, in a single flashing, throbbing moment.” ― Sarah Dessen
Initially we were going to shoot by the LA River in Elysian Valley, which is right next to their wedding venue. But while I was driving on the freeway and seeing the observatory from the distance and realizing that I haven't shot at that location, I figured, hey why not? So I shot Meli a text and a change in course was in order. With the nice backdrop of Downtown Los Angeles behind us and the thick grey clouds billowing up above, it gave us that kind of moody, noir-ish feel that I always preffered in shoots. It just made their shots that more intimate. But what I probably enjoyed the most is Meli and Daniel's company. They are just the perfect couple to shoot. We had the same vision when it comes to photographs so having them in front of my lens was bliss. And they were bold enough to trust whatever crazy idea I had in my head that they were willing to scale and stand on top of a ledge knowing that there is atleast a twenty foot drop to the bottom. But my hat goes off to Meli who braved her fear of heights just so they can hear me yell: "Don't worry! It's for the shot!" from a safe distance. But at the end, the shot was indeed worth it!
